When you have a dress custom made there is usually more sentimental value to the dress. It really is an extension of yourself and we value that unique bond a bride has with her dress. But when we get to incorporate a piece of the bride's mother's dress we just lose it; to take a piece of clothing that symbolized unity and commitment for a previous generation and be able to incorporate that into a new generation where a couple will celebrate their own commitment to one another is just next level precious.
Lara had give us a piece of lace that was left over from when her mother had her wedding dress made, even a pair of sleeves that had already been cut and sewn. We created a new bodice using only this lace and accentuated the embroidery with rows of beading to give it a bolder, more modern look. We kept the skirt plain in a soft, flowing chiffon which not only made the top stand out but ensured that our bride had ease of movement throughout the whole day!
